Getting Started with Hugo

Hugo is a fast and modern static site generator written in Go. It’s designed to make website creation fun again.

Basic Setup

To get started with Hugo, you need to:

  2. Create a new site with hugo new site mysite
  3. Add a theme or create your own
  4. Create content using markdown files
  5. Build and deploy your site

Creating Content

Content in Hugo is written in Markdown. Each post starts with front matter in YAML format:

Then you can write your content using standard Markdown syntax.

Building Your Site

When you’re ready to publish, simply run:

hugo

This generates your static site in the public/ directory, ready to be deployed to any static hosting service.
